The first few months of the year are usually pretty quiet, the wind, rain and snow working in tandem to ruin any conceivable chance of a decent skate. Surprisingly, this doesn’t appear to have slowed down the freestylers of the world, who have continued to release new video parts and push the global awareness of freestyle.

Freestyle Dogs return with demo
Although they never really went away, the Freestyle Dogs team are back in action, providing a full freestyle skateboarding demo experience. Featuring the talents of Mario Steinemann, Marco Sassi and Tonino Candela, the team have already undertaken their first demonstration at the Upc Cablecom Rising Star Event on the 21st of February. For anyone looking to book a demo from the team, make sure to check out their facebook page and get in touch.

Mike Osterman’s new Mode Deck and Sponsor
Having made a mark in 2013, Mike Osterman has also enjoyed an impressive start to 2014, seeing the release of his new signature deck from Mode Skateboards. In addition to this, Mike has also started riding for Delicious Skateshop; joining fellow freestylers Tommy Harwood and Sean Burke.
Freestyle Rocket blasts off
The Freestyle Rocket Facebook page recently announced that the team would be operating no longer. Since this announcement, the page appears to have gone offline. Freestyle Rocket provided a light hearted take on freestyle with team riders Horand Thonges, Maxe Jeblick, Lucas Berras, Heidi Praun, Zoltan Turi and Gunter Mokulys.
New Tony Hawks Game Coming Soon
Having spent over a decade injecting freestyle skateboarding into the mainstream, the Tony Hawks video games series will return this year. Tony Hawk himself has confirmed that the latest iteration of the game will be a mobile-exclusive title published by Activision, but are yet to confirm any further details on the game’s content, rider line up and the presence of freestyle.

Hans Lucas – 1963 to 2014
Hans Lucas, former WFSA Secretary and Freestyle Skateboarding enthusiast, sadly passed away on January 17th 2014. Hans dedicated many years of his life to supporting freestyle skateboarders across the globe, taking the time out to travel across Europe, filming contests and speaking with the local freestylers. Hans also produced monthly newsletters for the WFSA, providing monthly news and articles of interest; these newsletters inspiring the production of this website. Hans was a good man, who will be sorely missed by the community.
